The infusion pump is an electronic device that allows one to infuse intravenous or enteral therapy in a precise manner in terms of time and dose. Therapy can be continuous if administered continuously over a 24-hour period, or intermittent if carried out at specific times and of short duration. Infusion pumps make it possible to administer drugs, liquids, enteral nutrition, and parenteral nutrition.
The main advantages of using infusion pumps compared to common flow regulators or other devices are:
Accuracy of the volume and of the drug that is administered
Accuracy in the speed of administration
Possibility to set and regulate even very small quantities of the drug
Accuracy in administration, especially for drugs in which small quantities have large consequences (e.g. adrenaline, noradrenaline, dobutamine, etc.)
Possibility to quickly and precisely vary the infusion rate.
Infusion pumps are positive pressure pumps capable of controlling the drops that are infused, thus ensuring precise delivery and speed.
The amount of drug to be administered (in total mL)
The infusion rate (in mL/h), or alternatively the total time required for the infusion
The patient's weight (for some drugs the dose is dependent on the patient's weight and for this reason some infusion pumps allow one to set it)
The specific concentration in grams/micrograms (the dosage of some drugs is calculated in grams/micrograms per kilo of the patient)
The infusion systems produced by Canè SpA include outpatient infusion pumps, designed for the subcutaneous infusion of various drugs.
The small size and low weight make Crono pumps ideal for home use, thus giving the patient the freedom to engage in daily activities during treatment. The advance mechanism acts directly on the reservoir piston, allowing the pump to accurately administer the drug.
Crono pumps deliver shots with a programmable volume, at intervals that depend on the set flow. The time interval between shots decreases proportionally as the programmed flow increases.
The Canè infusion system also includes CRONO CRN sterile disposable syringes belonging to the class of medical devices, which, unlike other brands, have been designed to be used exclusively with CRONO model pumps.
Equipped with “Luer Lock” connections for the attachment of the infusion device, they feature the possibility to unscrew the piston, allowing it to be connected to the CRONO pumps.
Depending on the pump used, the CRN reservoirs can have a capacity of 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 ml.
The infusion lines complete the Canè infusion system, with different types and sizes in order to further customise the infusion system to obtain the best result for the patient.
